FILSCAP Campus Caravan lands at the Queen City of the South - Cebu! Last November 16, 2019, we visited the University of Southern Philippines Foundation with not just one, but two composer lecturers - Aia De Leon and Davey Langit🙌

If you love singing the songs "Akap", "Sundo", and "Tara Lets", then you should know the name Aia De Leon by heart. These are just to name a few of her hit songs. But growing up, she didn't have the freedom to express herself through music. It was only when she turned 18 years old when she started pursuing her passion for music. When she was starting out, she was this young kid who gets invited by bands as back-up but she knew that something in her heart felt so alive.

"Ang sarap sa pakiramdam pag nakabuo ka ng kanta. Imagine writing those words and hear them with melody."

It was an amazing moment when she performed "Sundo" and all of the students were singing along to it and later shared that one of the greatest joys of a songwriter is to hear people singing his/her song. You would think that the message of "Sundo" was meant for a lover or a friend but it is actually a representation of her faith to God. If you listen to the song right now, the person speaking there is actually God finding His way to her.

Himig Handog 2019 First Runner-up Winner, Davey Langit, later joined during the question and answer portion. He also performed his hit song "Selfie" which the students happily sang to.

Special thanks to our composer lecturers for inspiring the students to pursue writing songs and imparting them with songwriting tips and thank you USPF for welcoming us.
