What is FILSCAP?
The Filipino Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, Inc. (FILSCAP) is a non-stock, non-profit association of composers, lyricists, and music publishers established in 1965 which grants music users the legal permission to publicly play, broadcast, stream, or reproduce (in certain cases) any copyrighted local and international musical compositions of its members and the members of its affiliate foreign societies.
We are accredited by the Intellectual Property of the Philippines (IPOPHL) to perform the roles of a collective management organization (CMO) and a member of the Paris-based International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC), the umbrella organization of all composer societies worldwide. FILSCAP primarily administers the public performance and communication to the public rights of music creators and secures all the necessary licenses needed by music users so they can enjoy the power of music. Our reciprocal agreements with foreign societies also ensure that our members’ works are protected in other countries as well.
Beyond our role as a collecting society…
We are music advocates! Our love for music goes beyond our functional role as a CMO. We conduct events that promote public awareness and respect for music copyright and events that promote local music creation and development. These activities will allow songwriters to enhance their songwriting skills, widen their connections within the music community, and be equipped with experiences that may help them advance with their careers in the music industry.
