COVID-19 UPDATES
Member Financial Assistance
In response to the financial difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, FILSCAP will be providing financial assistance to ALL its members (₱5,000 for those who have been members for at least 5 years and ₱3,000 for those who have been members for less than 5 years). This assistance will be on top of the annual ₱50,000 medical expense reimbursement assistance that FILSCAP currently provides to its regular members for hospitalization purposes such as admittance to emergency room, and outpatient surgery. Lastly, early release of our members’ Unlogged Performance Allocation (UPA) this year in the amount of two thousand five hundred pesos (₱2,500) will be immediately available upon request.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are canceling all our socio-cultural events until further notice. The savings from the cancelation will also help to augment reserve funds for FILSCAP members who may need medical assistance. The General Assembly and Elections will also be rescheduled to a future date.
We urge everyone to take extreme precautions to stay healthy. We wish for all of you and your loved ones to come out safe and healthy from this pandemic. Together we can do this.
We Value Music
Championing the value of music and intellectual property rights of music creators have been our core mission for more than 50 years. The Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (FILSCAP) is a non-stock non-profit association of composers, lyricists and music publishers established in 1965 to primarily help music users get the necessary permission to use copyrighted local and foreign songs, and help music creators get royalties for the use of their songs. It is a member of the Paris-based International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC), the umbrella organization for 232 creator rights management organizations worldwide.
FILSCAP has been duly accredited by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines to operate as a Collective Management Organization (CMO) for music creators and copyright owners, and to primarily license the public playing, broadcast and streaming of the songs of its members, and the members of its affiliate foreign societies. Currently, FILSCAP’s repertoire covers over 20 million copyrighted local and foreign songs.
Beyond our role as a collecting society…
We are music advocates! Our love for music goes beyond our functional role as a CMO. We conduct events that promote public awareness and respect for music copyright and events that promote local music creation and development. These activities help our member songwriters enhance their songwriting skills, widen their connections within the music community, and be equipped with experiences that may help them advance with their careers in the music industry.
